The Class of 2016 will soon be arriving to become Eagles and the Class of 2013 begins the last 10 months of high school….amazing!

Football will begin before school starts this year with a game against Chula Vista at Chula Vista. School will begin the day after Labor Day on Tuesday, September 4, 2012. Students will be able to pick up their schedules in the Quad (by the back of the Library) beginning at 6:45 am. Football at El Capitan on Friday, September 7, 2012. Eagle Spirit week will begin September 10 and all of our incoming freshmen will become Eagles on Friday, September 14 at the Swoop Assembly. The Senior Parking Lot Auction will be on September 12 and our first home dance will be on Friday September 14 after we play Patrick Henry in football. Homecoming comes early this year on September 28 as we play El Cajon Valley. Hoping to see all of our alumni here to cheer on our school.
The Senior Class will have their Senior Halloween Breakfast on October 31. The CAHSEE will be administered to those students in the Class of 2013 and 2014 who have not passed this test yet. It is required to graduate from high school. The Theatre will present the Fall Play in November right before we are off for a week for Thanksgiving. We return from Thanksgiving break on November 26. Winter break begins December 24, 2012-January 4, 2013. Finals will begin on Friday, January 18 with the Period 1 Final Exam. Exams will continue the following week on Tuesday, January 22-24. The new semester will begin on Monday, January 28.
Construction has been occurring all summer and we are very excited about the new changes. The new two-story building will open at the start of this school year and will house Culinary, IB Film, Telecommunications, 2-D and 3-D Art, Photo, English and Special Education classes. Another quad area has been constructed outside this building for students. The building and the new outdoor area are simply amazing. Pictures are posted on the Granite Hills High School Facebook page (the page with the photo of the bronze Ernie since there are several GHHS Facebook pages out there.) Of course, we will continue to enjoy the new 50-meter pool, new tennis courts and multi-purpose courts as well. Many old buildings were demolished during the summer, including the 240’s, and ten (10) relocatable buildings were driven away. Construction has begun on the 60 building (which will house Math, Journalism and Publications) and also on the 130 building. The main center of our campus, however, will be free of construction and green fences. This will be a great semester and a great year!
