Guidance and Counseling
Welcome to the Guidance Center
The Grossmont Union High School District’s commitment is…

…“Every student a graduate and for each graduate a GREAT future!”

Welcome to the Granite Hills High School guidance web page. We are eager to assist you with your guidance needs and requests for information.

Guidance Office Hours: 6:45 a. m. to 3:30 p. m. (Monday-Friday)

Students, if you would like to speak with your counselor or academic advisor:
  • Counselors and academic advisors (Guidance Information Specialist) are available for students on a drop-in basis before school, at break, at lunch, and after school. Students who come into the Guidance Center during class time will be directed back to class unless the student has a pass from his/her teacher.
  • Send an email to your counselor or academic advisor. This option will save students from missing valuable instructional time and may result in a quicker resolution.
  • If a student has an emergency that needs immediate attention, please direct him/her to the Guidance Center and a member of our staff will be available.

Parents or Guardians, if you would like to speak with a counselor:

  • If you have a general counseling question or concern, the most effective way to contact your student’s counselor or academic advisor is through his or her email address.
  • You may also contact the counselor and academic advisor on their voicemail. Please know that during school hours our office is focused on student concerns, therefore, we will return your phone calls as soon as possible.
  • If you have other counseling questions, please contact the Guidance Secretary, Gina Stevenson, at 619.593.5540 to schedule an appointment.

If you have a question about your student’s current grade or course content, please contact the teacher directly (teacher contact information can be found on the Parent Portal and the GHHS Student Handbook). The counselors and academic advisors do not have any additional information regarding specific classes your student is taking, but the teachers will. The Parent Portal website (accessed via GUHSD website) is an excellent tool to monitor your student’s academic progress and attendance. You will be given a password for the Parent Portal after you come into the front office and show identification. Please keep in mind that if an issue you wish to discuss is related to your student’s grade or course content, please contact the teacher first.
