Granite Hills High School senior, Vito Roccoforte, is featured in this week's edition of Sports Illustrated magazine because of his success on the waves. He helped lead our Surf Team to a victory over Clairemont in the team's last competition by finishing first in the longboard and shortboard divisions. He did so with a fractured shoulder! He is also ranked first overall in the longboard category of the Scholastic Surf Series. We're proud of Vito and the entire Surf Team, which ranks consistently as one of the best in the County.

Congratulations to the Surf Team for starting their season off with a win over The Bishop's School from La Jolla in two to three foot surf at Carlsbad on Halloween day. Granite Hills outscored all eleven teams in the competition. Standouts included Nick Gonzalez, who placed 5th in the Bodyboarding division. Ryan Luna placed 5th in the Longboard division. Kaitlin Ray placed 5th in the Shortboard division and 2nd in the Longboard division. Lastly, Vito Roccoforte placed 4th in the Shortboard division and also captured 1st place in the Longboard division.
